Lawn Fertilization

TPFERT2 (1)Do you love brown, dead grass? Neither do we! If you want a lush, green yard it needs it be fertilized. A well-fertilized lawn is better at preventing weed infestation as well as disease and drought. Fertilizers provide your lawn with the nutrients needed to produce strong roots and grass that resists weeds, disease and insects. TURFPROS is licensed by the state of Georgia to provide these services. (License no. 07257).

Why Fertilize your Lawn? Your soil supplies some of the nutrients that turfgrass needs but most soils are not able to provide all of them during the entire growing season. A healthy and actively growing lawn uses a great deal of energy. Fertilizer helps your lawn stay healthy by promoting new leaf and root growth, aiding in recovery from foot traffic and pest damage, reducing and controlling weeds.

When to Fertilize? The first application of fertilizer is applied in mid April depending on weather. This application is normally done with a custom blend, granular fertilizer. The second application of fertilizer is applied in early July. This application is a custom blend, slow release, granular fertilizer. It’s different from the first application because it contains very little nitrogen. It is intended to feed the lawn and help it be be strong going into the fall. We do not tend to fertilize after August.

Think your lawn is diseased? Last year, we received more rain than normal and homeowners with irrigation were not adjusting their systems causing too much water. This was causing their lawn to become diseased. The most active months to see disease in our area is March and April and then again in September and October but turf disease can happen anytime of the year.
